Swiss Post to open Lisbon hub

Swiss Post, a part of the Swiss State IT Group, is to open a hub in Lisbon with 50 technology professionals with plans to employ 150 in the medium term.

The postal service Swiss Post is one of the longest-standing and best-known brands in Switzerland having been founded in 1849. It has a number of subsidiaries and affiliates with market-orientated service provision in areas such a finance, real estate, human resources, communication, technology and informatics and CEO corporate services.
Faced with a lack of IT professionals, which is having a direct impact on Swiss Post, the national postal group has decided to invest in Portugal “to ensure the necessary IT skills for the future”.
The company will make a public presentation of its project ‘I/T Campus de Lisboa’ on Tuesday; a technology hub whose mission will be supply highly qualified technology resources for the company’s operation for it private and corporate clients in Switzerland and which will operate from Lisbon”.
This skills centre will “create 50 jobs in the IT area by the end of the year, rising to 150 staff over the medium term”, says the group.
The hub will work in close collaboration with Swiss Post’s head office Swiss Post IT in Bern.
Swiss Post IT has one of the largest IT departments in Switzerland with around 1,300 internal staff and 400 outsourced IT specialists who are working on digitalising Swiss Post”.
