Portugal’s production output increased 4.5% in January this year, as the country enjoyed record production levels.

The Index of Industrial Production presented a like-for-like variation of 4.5% in January (1.9% in December).
Excluding the energy cluster, this variation was 1.7% (-1.2% in the preceding month). The variation rate from the Industrial Manufacturing sector was 1.3% (-0.2% in December). The monthly variation of the aggregated index was-2.6% (3.6% the previous month).
However, despite record productivity, Portugal is still below the worker productivity average of the Euro Zone countries according to Eurostat.
Nevertheless, worker productivity has not been as high in Portugal as it is now since 2010, but is still below the EU average.
