The telecoms giant Altice Portugal is negotiating the sale of its data centre at Covilhã for €100 million.

The company expects to complete the sale at the start of the fourth quarter of this year according to the business daily Jornal Económico.
Altice invested close to €4 million to migrate all of its Sapo portal support infrastructure to what was the company’s largest data centre and one of the largest in Portugal.
The fund Horizon Equity Partners is the front runner to buy the asset. In 2022 Bloomberg reported that Altice was looking at the possible sale of the data centre, stating that the divestment of the data centre would net Altice around €200 million.
The sale of the asset is in line with Altice’s strategy at an international level to reduce the group’s total debt which had reached €30Bn by the end of the transactional year.
