Portugal’s largest car plant is to begin a nine week stoppage from September 11 to November 12 because of a shortage of car parts in Slovenia.

It will lay manufacturing staff off for the period according to the Workers Commission on Thursday but may change the time involved according to developments.
The commission announced: “There will be a nine week stoppage from September 11 to November 12 but this could be reduced if a solution to the problem crops up”.
Autoeuropa’s administration, which had initially announced a six week stoppage, also informed that it would apply a lay-off for the nine weeks of production stoppage.
According to the company, the Slovenian firm that produces essential engine parts was severely affected by the floods that took place in the country in August.
