Singapore, Japan, Germany, Italy and France and Spain topped the index as the most valuable passports in the world, enabling visa-free travel to 191 countries.
Portugal’s passport shares fourth place with the UK, Belgian, Luxembourg and Norwegian passports.
At the bottom of the index was Afghanistan allowing access to only 28 countries, followed by Syria (29), Iraq (31), and Pakistan. (34)
The Henley Passport Index is the original, authoritative ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) — the largest, most accurate travel information database — and enhanced by Henley & Partners’ research team. Expert insights regarding the latest ranking are available in its Global Mobility Report 2024.
