Lince Capital creates new private equity area

Lince Capital, a Portuguese financial company that manages investment funds and venture capital, has set up a private equity department within the VC that will be managed by Lourenço Mayer.

Mayer is Head of Growth Funds and is responsible for Growth Fund I, currently in the process of attracting investors with an initial subscription of €20 million.
In a communiqué sent out to news desks this week, the company states: “Lince Capital expresses confidence in the leadership of Lourenço Mayer and believes that his experience and strategic vision will be crucial for the future success of the company in the field of private equity”.
“The appointment strengthens Lince Capital’s continued commitment to innovation and excellence in the sphere of investments”, says Vasco Pereira Coutinho, CEO of Lince Capital, quoted in the release.
Growth Fund I is in the process of raising investment until it closed in September, 2025 and has an initial subscription of €20 million to invest in “Portuguese SMEs that have a high growth potential in the industrial sector or circular economy”, states Lince Capital.
Before accepting the post at Lince Capital, he had various posts at ECS Capital and at KPMG Portugal in the Corporate Finance department.
In January, Lince Capital launched its €146 million Lince Innovation Fund III, the VC’s third fund to invest in Portugal startups with innovative R&D projects.
Lince Capital was founded in 2016 and since 2020 it has evaluated more than 400 start-ups, having invested in 22, including well-known names like Sensei, Kencko, Bizay and Leadzai.
