Bright Pixel doubles investment

Sonae is to pump €300 million into its technology investment venture capital subsidiary in an investment that will double the amount it has already invested since 2016.

Bright Pixel Capital, headed by Eduardo Piedade, will double the amount of investment in technology businesses applied to retail, digital infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
The company has already made around 50 direct investments in stakes in companies from seed to growth stages focused in strategic business areas such as technology applied to retail (retail tech), digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
In a communiqué presenting the new name of the venture capital company which had been called Sonae IM, Bright Pixel Capital states that it has invested over €250 million since 2016 and aims to “invest a further €300 million in the coming years in companies capable of transforming industries at a global level in the coming years.”
It has companies like Arctic Wolf, Outsystems, Feedzai and Ometria in its portfolio, Bright Pixel Capital has a new slogan ‘Building a Brighter Future Together’, but if the new corporate image gives an air of modernity and agility, it also emphasises its guiding principles geared towards being ‘results and growth orientated’.
Sonae Capital also plans to invest around €15 million in hotels over the next five years according to Pedro Capitão, director of hotels for Sonae Capital, with investments in Porto, Lisbon, and the Algarve. One year ago, it launched The Editory Collection Hotels.
