Portugal in top 5 most popular destinations in the world for Tiqets platform

Since the beginning of the year Portugal and Lisbon have continued to be among the five most attractive destinations for customers of online culture and tourism tickets booking site Tiqets.

Both occupied fifth position in the ranking of countries with the most tickets sold on the platform, ahead of markets such as the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Austria.
The French continue to be the leaders buying tickets for Portuguese tourist attractions, representing 21.7% of the total bookings on the Tiqets platform.
Since the start of the year Italian visitors were in second place (14.5%), followed by Spanish tourists (13.1%), the United Sates (12.4%), and the United Kingdom (10.7%).
According to Tiqets, city passes are the most sought after product, in line with an overall trend for 2023. This was followed by palaces, aquariums, concerts and historic places.
Unlike January 2023 when Portuguese clients of Tiqets purchased tickets for local attractions, at the start of 2024 the platform registered more purchases for international attractions.
The Vatican and Coliseum in Rome were the two top destinations for Portuguese holidaymakers while on the list of the places most popular to visit were boat trips on the River Seine in Paris, Guell Park in Barcelona and the Sagrada Famiia, also in Barcelona.
As for visitor attractions in Portugal, the wine cellars in Porto were among the most popular among overseas tourists, and tickets to fado venues (pictured – Fado in Chiado).
