Hotels in Portugal enjoy 26% increase in revenues and high demand for Summer 2024
Hotel reservations for this summer in Portugal have increased 29% on 2023 according to Guestcentric, particularly for June, July and August while projected revenues are up 26%.
Guestcentric, which has around 400 independent hotels in Portugal registered on its bookings platform, says direct bookings continue to be the main choice for holidaymakers, exceeding other channels such as booking.com.
This trend has been accentuated by a high rate of cancelling on third party platforms, reinforcing the resilience and preference for Guestcentric by the hotels themselves.
This year, the average price per night between June and August has hit a record amount of €259.
Compared to last year, it is an increase of 6% on the average price, and 7% on forward bookings.
In terms of markets, the US continues to lead, followed by the national market, which was stronger than last year.
The UK, Germany, and Spain completes the list of the countries whose holidaymakers are most looking to spend their holidays in Portugal this summer.
All of the main regions in Portugal have registered substantial increases in bookings for this summer compared to 2023. (26% overall in revenues) and 20% in nightly bookings with average prices 6% above the same period in 2023.
In terms of regions, Madeira clearly stood out, with a growth in revenues of 55% on 2023, followed by the North with 41%, and the Azores with 40%. Both saw considerable increases in their average prices, from 19% and 18% respectively.
