The Viceroy at Ombria Algarve, the first Viceroy hotel in the south of Europe, opened its doors for business on October 1.

The hotel, from the US Viceroy Hotels & Resorts group, is part of Ombria Algarve, a luxury sustainable resort and community in the borough of Loulé, 30 minutes from Faro airport and some of the best Algarve beaches.

The five-star hotel boasts panoramic 360º views over a landscape of green rolling hills and rivers. It has 141 accommodation units from rooms, suites and apartments on a 5.2 hectare site within the 153 hectare resort.

The Ombria Algarve also has an 18-hole golf course which has been open since last year, and has various types of homes for sale including villas, townhouses, and apartments.

The hotel was designed by architects WATG and Promontorio while the interior designs were done by Wimberly Interiors with a contemporary style and local artisan design and furnishing pieces.

Comprising 24 buildings, with a tower and central square, the design of the hotel reflects a traditional Algarve village.

The Ombria is owned by the Pontos Group, a Finish family office that invests in real estate projects, companies and growth in private equity which invested €260 million in the hotel and resort.
