Over 50 brands at 27th edition of Expofranchise
Over 50 brands including Century 21, Auchan, Meu Super, Portugália, Nata Lisboa, Fireaway Pizza, Doutor Finances, Melom, and Seventh Brunch were present with stands at the 27th edition of Expofranchise which opened today at the Pátio Galé in Lisbon.
Today and tomorrow the event offers the public technology, major brands and different franchising formats, as well as lectures about the sector and experiences for all visitors.
The fair, organised by the Portuguese Franchising Association, will feature representatives from segments such as catering (Portugália, Nata Lisboa, Fireaway Pizza, Seventh Brunch, Enjoy Joy, La Mafia Se Sienta A La Mesa), health and well-being (Bodyconcept, Fitness Factory, Vivafit, CK Pilates, Techbody), real estate (Remax, UNU, Realty One, Century 21), finance (Maxfinance, Doctor Finance), specialised services (Glassdrive, Melom, Chaviarte, Aqui, Midas, Lavanteria, Office Evolution, House Shine) and distribution (Grupo Auchan, Meu Super, and Mosqueteiros), among others.
franchising is an evolving sector that continues to grow and consolidate its position as one of the essential drivers of the national economy. In 2023, the sector accounted for 8.3% of Portugal’s Gross Domestic Product, a number significantly above the previous year when it was 7.23%.
According to data from the Portuguese Franchising Association, the biggest growth was in revenue, with an increase of 29.41% in just one year, from €17B in 2022 to €22Bn in 2023. This is the biggest evolution ever recorded in Portugal. The number of brands operating in the country increased by 4.63%, from 518 to 542 in 2023.
In 2023, franchising accounted for 185,423 jobs in Portugal, representing 27% of total jobs in the country. This number reflects a growth of 4.78% compared to the previous year, when the sector was responsible for 176,956 jobs, reinforcing the relevance and impact of franchising on the Portuguese economy.
In the Expofranchise Experience area of the fair venue, brands will demonstrate how they are integrating technology solutions into their operations and growth strategies. In this space, fully dedicated to interaction, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in virtual reality experiences, participate in interactive games and appreciate how technology is shaping the future of franchising.
