Portugal Digital Summit 2024 highlights role of women in tech
Women in tech will take centre stage at this year’s Portugal Digital Summit 2024 which runs this Wednesday and Thursday (23 and 24 October) at Lisbon’s Técnico Innovation Centre.
Organised by ACEPI – Digital Economy Association of Portugal (Associação de Economia Digital de Portugal), in partnership with PT.
Among the confirmed speakers and panels is a prestigious group of women, recognised for their leadership, ambition and strategic vision. Carolina Afonso, CEO Iberia do Gato Preto, Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, President of .PT, and Madalena Cascais Tomé, CEO of the SIBs Group who will discuss the challenges and opportunities of innovation and technological transformation in various sectors of the Portuguese economy, alongside more than 150 national and international speakers.
Featured at the Portugal Digital Summit, Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, President of .PT, reflects that the role of women in technology: “is an increasingly relevant issue for one of the most important digital events in Portugal, to which .PT is associated as an institutional partner.
Examples such as the Portugal Digital Summit — which increasingly focuses on diverse and complementary panels — that allow us to hear the opinions of women digital leaders and the important role of women in innovation and technological development.
Luísa Ribeiro Lopes will take the stage at the Portugal Digital Summit to reflect on the potential of Artificial Intelligence and new technologies in transforming the current scenario, by redefining industries, improving business strategies and creating new growth opportunities. With extensive experience in the development and management of digital projects — both in the private and public sector —, the head of the domains management, registration and maintenance entity .PT has been a key figure in promoting digitalisation in Portugal, boosting technological innovation and the competitiveness of companies in the national and global scenario.
In addition to being President of the.PT, Luisa is also part of the National Board of the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection (DECO) and is a Board Member of the organisation representing the top-level domains of European countries (CENTR). She also participates in several initiatives for digital inclusion aimed at women, while contributing to greater social inclusion.
Also take the stage at the largest digital economy event in Portugal is Carolina Afonso, CEO Iberia do Gato Preto who will be to discussing the impact of AI on e-commerce management, showing how this technology can simplify operations and boost sales in a highly competitive and global market.
Carolina has a consolidated career of 15 years of experience in Management and Marketing, being responsible for the recognised national trade and retail company and teaching Management, Strategy and Marketing at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management (University of Lisbon (ISEG).
Madalena Cascais Tomé, CEO of SIBs Group, will bring to the Portugal Digital Summit her vision on the importance of placing the community at the centre of technological transformation processes, ensuring that digital advances are a tool for inclusion and accessibility. Recognised as one of the most influential managers and leaders in Portugal, she is at the head of one of the largest payment technology and digital services companies in Europe, having been highlighted in the Top 13 of the ranking of the “European Women Leaders in Fintech” from The Financial Technology Report.
Passionate about innovation, technology, marketing and internationalisation, Madalena is also a member of ISEG’s strategic council and teaches Leading Innovation and Digitisation on Boards in the executive programme at Nova School of Business and Economics.
