The startup Powerdot won the João Vasconcelos Award, – the award given by the Lisbon Unicorn Factory that distinguishes the entrepreneur, team or startup that stands out most in  a given year within the technology ecosystem.

Founded in 2018, Powerdot develops electric vehicle charging solutions for retail and commercial spaces. It has 8,0000 points in Europe, with 1,400 in Portugal, where it has the second largest network in the country, behind Galp.

In February this year, the company received an investment of €100 million from the Arié Group and Antin Infrastructure Partners.

The João Vasconcelos Award was created in 2019, after the death of the former Secretary of State for Industry. The director had been the founding director of Fábrica de Unicórnios de Lisboa, which, at the time, was called Startup Lisboa.

That year, the award was given to Daniela Braga, from Defined.ai. In the following years, André Jordão, from Barkyn (2020), the founders of startup Sensei (2021), the Coverflex team (2022) and Jon Fath, from fintech Rauva (2023) won.

In addition to the João Vasconcelos Award, the Ecosystem Award was also given to Virgílio Bento, founder and CEO of Sword Health; the Most Promising Startup Award to Framedrop, the Best Impact Startup Award to Goparity and the Best University Startup Award to Lampsy.
