The Sonae group’s turnover from circular products and services amounted to around €90 million in 2023, the company said in a statement this Friday.

This “circularity” is done, for example, through the repair of electronic equipment, recycling of clothing and sale of second-hand products, explains Sonae, pointing to the positive environmental impact of this investment.

“Sonae’s retail businesses managed to recover 85% of waste and reduce the use of single-use plastic. At the end of 2023, 86% of the plastic packaging used in private label products was recyclable and the ‘zero waste’ practices, adopted by MC, have already avoided food waste worth 66 million euros”, the statement said.

Sonae says it is committed to this commitment to circularity, and therefore has dedicated the second edition of the Innovators Forum ’24 to the theme.

“The aim of the Innovators Forum is not only to present the current state of the Circular Economy, but also to challenge an expert audience to drive a positive and lasting transformation”, it can be read.
