TAP paid TAP SGPS €4.4 million for Portugália
Portugal’s government announced on Tuesday that it had acquired all the shares in airline Portugália, Cateringpor and TAP health care unit UCS from the holding company TAP. All three companies will be part of the forthcoming TAP SA privatisation package.
According to the online news source ECO, the State-run airline company paid €4.4 million.
“The TAP group, with the support of the government, completed the necessary company (acquisition) operations required for the completion of the restructuring plan agreed with the EU, thereby preparing TAP SA for the reprivatisation process”, said a communiqué sent to the media.
The government also informed that on January 17 it completed the last injection of capital foreseen under the restructuring plan of €3.43 million.
With this tranche, the amount paid into the holding company has risen to €3.23Bn, completing the planned capital increases.
Meanwhile, TAP announced that in 2024 it transported 16.1 million passengers, up 1.6% on 2023.
The US and Brazilian routes most contributed to the increase in passenger number in 2024.
