Lisbon second worst European city for Airbnb fire safety
Lisbon is potentially the second most dangerous European city in terms of Airbnb safety with just 29.31% of listings having smoke alarms.
Lisbon ranked second-worst for fire safety, with only 29.31% of the 11,829 Airbnb listings analysed being equipped with smoke detectors. Of the 11,829 listings analysed, just 17.41% contained both a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm.
Madrid ranked worst for Airbnb fire safety with only one in four listings (26.53%) equipped with a smoke alarm and just 15.81% having carbon monoxide detectors.
Lisbon and Barcelona joined Madrid as the three European cities with the lowest presence of smoke alarms, with only 29.31% and 30.79% of listings having them installed.
Paris Airbnbs ranked best for fire safety, with 100% of listings analysed including a smoke alarm. This was followed by Dublin (90.78%) and London (89.26%).
The study, conducted by personal injury experts at claims.co.uk, examined over 236,000 Airbnb listings across 20 major European cities to identify which destinations pose potential safety risks for travellers. A sample of Airbnb listings for each city was taken from the website, and each was checked to determine if a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm were present at the property.
