Portuguese State nets €23.38 million from property selloff
State and public institutes raised €23.38 million from the sale of seven properties in 2025, the highest value in almost a decade, thanks mainly to the sale of a property in Berlin where the Portuguese embassy in Germany was planned.
According to Estamo’s (A property company held by State-owned Parpública) annual report, in 2025, the Portuguese State sold five properties for €22.23 million, a result to which the sale of a property in Berlin “decisively contributed”, while two public institutes disposed of two assets for an amount of €1.15 million.
This property, located at number 25 Hiroshimastrasse and number 10 Hildebrandstrasse, was valued at €18 million, but sold for €22 million, in August, to the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, through direct adjustment like the others, according to data published by the State real estate agency.
The plot of land that forms part of the upscale and central neighborhood of Tiergarten, which hosts several diplomatic missions, was purchased 30 years ago by the Portuguese State with the aim of building its future embassy in Germany there, which never happened. Plans to sell it date back at least to the troika era (2011-2014).
