House rents climb 5.1% in March
Rent prices per square meter increased by 5.1% in March compared to the same month in 2025, 0.1 percentage points less than in February, with all regions registering year-on-year growth, the National Statistics Institute (INE) reported today.
According to the INE, in March “all regions showed positive year-on-year variations in housing rents, with Madeira registering the most significant increase (6.5%).”
In monthly terms, the average value of housing rents per square meter registered a variation of 0.5%, compared to 0.6% in the previous month.
The regions with the highest positive monthly variation were the North, Center, West and Tagus Valley, Setúbal Peninsula, Alentejo and Azores (0.6%), with no region observed showing a negative variation in the respective average value of housing rents.
