The Navigator Company expects to be reimbursed approximately €4.3 million, plus interest, for tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration in 2025 that it had to support in the United States and which the US Supreme Court declared illegal this year.

In its 2025 report and accounts, the group led by António Redondo recalls that, “following the court decisions issued in the US in February and March 2026, the Supreme Court and the US Court of International Trade deemed the trade tariffs imposed in 2025 under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) illegal, ordering the cessation of their application and the reimbursement of the amounts unduly charged to the importers covered.”

The Portuguese paper and paper products group – which is the third largest national exporter of goods in Portugal – reveals that “based on the information currently available and the analysis carried out, Navigator estimates that it may be reimbursed an amount of approximately €4.3 million plus interest, corresponding to previously incurred fees”.

However, it states that “as of the closing date of the accounts, the reimbursement process is still underway, depending on administrative execution by the US authorities”, which is why “there is no certainty at this stage as to when the payment will be received”.

Navigator also adds that it “will continue to monitor the progress of the process and will proceed with the respective accounting recognition in accordance with applicable standards, when the conditions for this are met”.
