The consortium of the Spanish company Sacyr and the Portuguese companies DST and Alberto Couto Alves (ACA) are in the running for the second section of the Lisbon-Porto high-speed rail line, between Oiã and Soure.

With one month to go before the deadline for submitting proposals in the tender launched with a base price of €1.6Bn, José Teixeira, president of DST, told the business daily Negócios that the consortium he is part of “will submit a proposal”.

He also said that “the base price was better and for now I have no indication that the base price will not be sufficient”. He also confirmed that the consortium will remain composed of the three companies.

The consortium, led by Mota-Engil, which includes six other Portuguese construction companies – after the Manuel Couto Alves group joined Teixeira Duarte, Casais, Alves Ribeiro, Conduril and Gabriel Couto in the tender for the second section – will face competition in the race for the public-private partnership (PPP).

The CEO of the largest Portuguese construction company has stated that the consortium he leads will submit proposals for all high-speed rail projects. The group has already won the first section of the future line, between Porto and Oiã, and work is expected to begin on the ground in the third quarter of this year.
