One in 10 homes for rent rented within 24 hours

Around 11% of homes advertised for rent on idealista during the first quarter of 2026 were on the market for less than 24 hours, according to an analysis by idealista, the real estate marketplace in southern Europe.

The island of São Miguel is the area of ​​the country where rentals are snapped up fastest, as half of the homes for rent left the market in less than 24 hours.

This is followed by the districts of Beja, Évora, Guarda and Vila Real, all with a rate of 33%. The island of Madeira (19%), Santarém (18%) and Faro (17%) also show high levels of express rentals.

In the country’s main district markets, Braga has a rate of 13% of homes rented in less than a day, followed by Lisbon (12%) and Setúbal (11%). In Porto, the percentage drops to 7%.

Ponta Delgada and Évora lead in express rentals among cities

At the level of the district capitals and islands analyzed, the highest incidence of express rentals is observed in Ponta Delgada (50%) and Évora (40%). Beja registers 33%, while Braga and Lisbon both have a rate of 13%. Castelo Branco appears with 11% and Funchal and Setúbal with 10%.

On the other hand, Vila Real did not register any cases of express rentals during the period analyzed. The lowest rates were also observed in Leiria (4%), Porto (6%) and Aveiro and Viana do Castelo (7% in both cases).
