Portugal’s Minister of Infrastructure, Miguel Pinto Luz stated on Tuesday that the chaotic situation at some of Portugal’s airports – namely Lisbon and Faro – has been brought under control.

“There is no longer chaos at the airports. There has been a reinforcement of the security forces that are controlling borders at all airports, namely at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon,” assured the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, on the sidelines of the signing of a protocol between the Vila do Conde City Council and Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) for the future construction of a new road bridge over the Ave River.

Miguel Pinto Luz assured that the issue of delays and long queues at Portugal’s airports had been monitored by his ministry in coordination with the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves who has been leading the process, highlighting that several measures had been adopted to reinforce border control, at a time when the summer months of greatest tourist pressure have arrived.

“There has been a reinforcement of machines and technology, and we have been monitoring the matter constantly and effectively. We believe that we have the necessary and sufficient conditions to get through the summer calmly,” concluded the minister.
