Adega Mayor grows 41% in Angolan market
The Adega Mayor wine brand is continuing to grow in Angola, a priority market in its internationalisation plan, and already represents 25% of the Nabeiro group’s brand exports.
In the first five months of the year, the Portuguese brand grew 41% in value and 15% in volume, figures that motivate the company to “invest in consolidating the brand among Angolan consumers,” says Pedro Foles, general manager of Adega Mayor.
“Angola is a market of enormous importance to the brand’s internationalisation strategy. Besides representing about a quarter of our exports, it’s a market with which we maintain a close relationship built over the years and where we continue to identify high growth potential,” stated the brand representative, who was present at the Grande Prova Vinhos de Portugal 2026, organised by ViniPortugal on Thursday in Luanda.
Strengthening its presence in Angola is among the priority axes of the Nabeiro group’s brand strategy, its wines widely available in the main modern retail centres, hotels, restaurants, and informal retail outlets in Angola.
During the festival, which brought together more than 50 producers at the InterContinental Miramar Hotel, Adega Mayor presented wines from its Caiado range (White 2024, Red 2023 and Rosé 2024), Reserva (White 2024 and Red 2023), Monocastas (Verdelho 2024 and Touriga Nacional 2022), Reserva do Comendador (White 2022 and Red 2022) and Grande Reserva Pai Chão 2020, some of the brand’s most emblematic wines.
“The Grande Prova Vinhos de Portugal was an excellent opportunity to strengthen our relationships with Angolan clients, partners and consumers, showcasing the diversity and quality of Adega Mayor wines.
Angola continues to be a priority market for the brand and we intend to continue investing in consolidating our presence and strengthening the relationships we have been building over the years,” added Pedro Foles, quoted in a statement sent to the Jornal Económico (JE).
In 2025, Portuguese wine exports to Angola grew by 20%, bucking the trend seen in global markets according to Frederico Falcão, president of ViniPortugal.
