Lisbon’s latest rooftop bar, Level 8, opened in April with a dazzling party and sparkling guests.

A stone’s throw from Lisbon’s upmarket Avenida da Liberdade and centrally located Marquês de Pombal, Level 8 by Disaronno boasts spectacular 180º views over Lisbon’s Parque Eduardo VII and Botanical Gardens and serves 16 different cocktails – including gourmet gin cocktails – and authentic Lebanese canapés.

The project belongs to Lebanese restauranteur and businessman Machal El Dib who has lived in Lisbon for 30 years and owns the Lebanese restaurant directly beneath it Fenicios.

Located at Rua Castilho, 14C, the 350m2 bar which has a capacity for 200 people, opens daily from 5pm to 2am with music from invited deejays.

It is informally decorated with a vertical garden, white sofas, wood decking and is completely surrounded by glass.

“We’ve owned this space for some years, but it’s only now, after four years of trying to get planning permission sorted out, that we finally got all the necessary licenses and can open,” said Machal El Dib who invested €150,000 in the project.

The new terrace bar has a different entrance to the restaurant. “We wanted two distinct areas which at the same time were linked since we will be serving typical Lebanese canapés from our Fenicios menu.

Dainty delights to tease the palate start from €4.50 and include kibbé (beef and almonds with halloumi cheese) and fatayer (Lebanese bread filled with spinach).

For now, the bar will only open in the warmer months, closing at the end of October with eventual plans for a cosy and warmer indoor or covered project for the winter months.
