Eurovision village has opened in Lisbon’s Terreiro do Paço square. For the nine days of the Eurovision Song Contest the village will host daily musical and arts programmes at what has been dubbed a “living room” for Eurovision lovers.

The Beatbombers will play on the opening night, Friday, 4 May, followed on Saturday by DISCOTEXAS which introduces Lisboa at night in a show that initially resembles a DJ set with a narrative component in which the hosts tell the story of music and dance in the city in a collective celebration of the Made in Portugal electronica that emerged in the 1990s and continues to this day.

On Sunday 6 May there are shows paying tribute to three of the biggest names in Portuguese music: Simone de Oliveira, Carlos Paião and Doce, with the festival’s opening ceremony being transmitted live.

The South Atlantic is the geographic focus for the action on Monday, 7 May, with Africa and Brazil coming together for a night of performances by Banda do Mar and Waldemar Bastos.
