Mota-Engil completes landmark €32 million Faro Airport terminal expansion

Mota-Engil has completed the expansion and rehabilitation of Faro Airport’s terminal in Portugal’s Algarve.

The high-profile project ups the airport’s passenger capacity by 50% making it the fastest growing airport in Portugal. 

Faro airport serves the main tourist resorts in the Algarve and Alentejo and has a 7 million passenger turnover per annum.

Mota-Engil, one of Portugal’s largest and most successful construction companies with an international footprint in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East has carried out major projects there since 1986.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, António Costa and the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, Pedro Marques and the CEO of the Mota-Engil Group, Gonçalo Moura Martins, Martinho de Oliveira, CEO of Mota-Engil Europe and Horácio Sá, CEO of Mota-Engil Engineering and Construction.
