Lisbon is to host the largest and most important public relations conference in the world for five days in 2020.

The city will become the capital of strategic thinking on the role of public relations internationally as it hosts the annual IPRN Conference.
The International Public Relations Network (IPRN) is an international network of independently owned and managed communications and public relations agencies with more than 50 members in 28 countries and 80 offices on five continents.
Founded in 1995, it has a staff of 6,800 public relations and communications professionals providing local knowledge and global reach for clients looking for selective market PR programmes.
IPRN agencies work for many clients across all sectors of industry and countries in B2B, B2C, C and CSR and International communication for small, medium and large-size companies.
Its members are a mix of specialist and multi-sector agencies from big agencies to smaller ones.
Last year’s AGM was held in the Chinese capital of Beijing and this year Lisbon successfully competed with New York and New Delhi to host the event with support from Lisbon City Council and the Portuguese tourist office Turismo de Portugal.
The decision to hold the AGM in Lisbon was taken in a vote by members at a recent conference which took place in May in the Polish capital Warsaw.
The Lisbon event will take place between the 15-19 May, 2020 when the representatives of 50 international PR agencies (all IPRN members) will descend on the capital.
For the five days the conference will turn Lisbon into the centre of strategic thinking on the role of communication and public relations worldwide, with the participation of the CEOs and members of scores of PR agencies around the world.
The goal is to discuss and debate issues such as innovation, trend, best practices, case studies from leading companies at a time in which fake news and disinformation is growing on the international panorama.
The IPRN currently has around 50 members in 30 countries on five continents. It represents an accumulated turnover of US$ 500 million, over 7,000 staff and 4,000 active clients.
In 2020 it will celebrate 25 years which will make the Lisbon AGM and conference particularly special.
Luís Gonzalez, CEO of IPRN said, “Lisbon being elected as the city for our AGM was excellent news for the organisation because it can represent a great moment in celebrating our Jubilee and to affirm the international vitality of IPRN.”
