AmCham elects new Board President

António Martins da Costa, a board member of Portugal’s electricity giant EDP, has been elected the new President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal.

The decision was taken at a General Assembly meeting held on 18 June at which the annual accounts and board members were approved for the period 2019-2021.
António Martins da Costa will be supported by Pedro Penalva (Aon Portugal) as Vice President, Carlos Loureiro (Deloitte Portugal) and Diogo Lacerda as AmCham Treasury Vice President.
Other board members are António Redondo (The Navigator Co.), Domitila Dos Santos (dos Santos Group), Emérico Gonçalves (AIG), James Kelly (FLAD), José Fernando Gonçalves (Accenture), Lara Campos Tropa (IBM), Leslie Rubio (Citibank), Manuel Maria Correia (DXC), Nicholas Racich (Banco de Investimento Global), Paulo Teixeira (Laboratórios Pfizer), Pedro Duarte (Microsoft) , Rafael Patino (US Embassy in Portugal, Sofia Tenreiro (Galp) and Dana T. Redford and José Araújo (Millennium).
With its new mandate, the Board will continue to develop the work it has been doing in recent years but will, through board members and members leverage small teams within companies to boost new strategy lines such as boosting partnerships between the companies in the two countries.
António Martins da Costa has been an EDP Board member since 2006 with responsibilities in the areas of electricity distribution, gas, organisation, shared services and information technology. He was CEO and Vice President of EDP Brazil (2003-2007) and from 2007 Chairman and CEO of Horizon Wind Energy (USA) and an Executive Board Member of EDP Renewables from 2008-2012.
He was also Vice-President of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo (2004 to 2007).
