Portuguese companies continue to look to the UK to expand

The programme Sustainable Fast Track UK, the largest European sustainability programme from the UK’s Department of International Trade aimed at attracting companies with sustainable solutions, has registered six Portuguese candidates.

The chosen candidates will get a support package including an office in London and support throughout the entire set up process among other advantages to grow their businesses.
The programme which is running in 25 countries in Europe is aimed at companies with sustainable products or services in six distinct areas: financial services, agriculture, circular economy, infrastructure, energy and health care.
Applications are available to be made online until 29 November with 70 companies in the running with 70 companies in the running, including six Portuguese ones in the areas of technology, mobility, agrotech and energy.
“Sustainable Fast Track UK will give companies the opportunity to set up in one of the most important company ecosystems in the world, with support at an operational, financial and expansion level in emerging markets such as in Africa on the back of a UK protocol.
“The number of candidates in the programme shows that despite Brexit, London continues to be very attractive for entrepreneurs and the Portuguese are no exception. Moreover, the relationship between the United Kingdom and Portugal was always very strong and the expectation is that it will continue to be so” says Christina Liaos, Director of the DIT investment network in Europe and director of the Scandinavian and Baltic markets.
