DefinedCrowd gets €42 million Series B

DefinedCrowd, founded by Portuguese entrepreneur Daniela Braga, has just succeeded in netting €46.2 million of Series B investment in what is the largest round achieved in the US by an AI company.

The round, which will be used to “support the startup’s vision to create the perfect interaction between people and machines”, includes new investors such as Semapa Next and Hermes GPE, and also attracted big names such as Evolution Equity Partners, Kibo Ventures, Portugal Ventures, Bynd Venture Capital, EDP Ventures and IronFire Ventures.
Among the established investors who remain with DefinedCrowd are Amazon Alexa Fund, Sony Innovation Fund and Mastercard.
The investment will enable DefinedCrowd to launch new subscription offers and double the number of its employees which will help the startup to fulfil the goals outlined by its founder; to become the best artificial intelligence company in the world.

Since it was founded, DefinedCrowd has already raised US$63.6 million in four financing rounds and today has offices in Lisbon, Porto, Tokyo and a head office in Seattle.
At the start of the year the company employed 200 people and nw has 265. By the end of the year DefinedCrowd hopes to employ 500 in all.
