Canadians invest €21M in Hilton Évora project

The Canadian group Mercan in partnership with Referência Arrojada (RA Group) is to invest €21 million on a new hotel in the historic town of Évora.

The Hilton Garden Inn Évora will have 130 rooms and an outdoor roof pool with a bar and terrace.
Its location is just 10 minutes from the city centre by Rossio São Brás. The Hilton Garden Inn Évora which covers 8,000m2 also features a restaurant, gym, and a meetings room with 130 seat capacity.
This new development from the Canadian group will create 95 direct jobs when it is operational. For now it will employ 80 workers involved in the construction.
The vice-president of the Mercan Group highlights this project as an another investment in the country’s portfolio.
“Évora has huge potential as a tourism destination, both for Portuguese and for foreigners. This new project from the Mercan Group reflects the confidence that international investors have in Portugal and extends beyond the main large cities,” says Jordi Vilanova, emphasising that this project alone has 75 overseas investors.
The foundation stone was laid on 25 May while the construction company charged with the project is Tecniarte.
