U.HUB, a company that provides and runs student accommodation, is to build new residences at Lumiar on the outskirts of Lisbon.

Building works on the project have already started at Alta de Lisboa (Lumiar) under the construction company Gabriel Couto. The works will be supervised by Tecnoplano – Engenharia e Gestão.
Designed by PG – Arquitectos Associados, the new residence will be built on four plots, each building having eight floors covering a total construction area of around 15,500m2, 3,000m2 of which will serve for underground parking.
The development will feature 498 accommodation units of different typologies with common areas set aside for leisure, socialising, work and study on the lower floors.
The residence will also provide a number of support services including a laundry, storage and cleaning managed by a cleaning company.
U.HUB Investments is headed by Jaime Antunues, Hugo Gonçalves Pereira and asset management company ATRIUM. It established an agreement with the Belgian group Xior, which is involved with its entire portfolio of residences in Portugal in a deal done in 2019 for 130 million.
In 2020 U.HUB launched a new students’ residence by the Asprela University Hub in Porto with 456 accommodation units, also built by Gabriel Couto.
U.HUB was born from the life experiences of two entrepreneurs who always felt the need to have a good experience when staying abroad. They also felt that Lisbon had much more to offer in terms of student accommodation.
The students’ residences tend to be located near universities practising a philosophy of ‘living like a local’. They also offer many benefits such as discounts in gyms, health care and other services with service providers with which they partner.
