NOS Startup World

Building the Future, the main Portuguese event for digital transformation, will run between 26-28 January, 2022 in partnership with NOS which will also open applications for NOS Startup World. The initiative aims to promote new Startups with technologically innovative products which have a high scalability potential. Over two days, the participants will have access to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, guaranteeing visibility, connections with companies and possible business opportunities. The programme is aimed at all national startups with activities in Portugal or which intend to set up a business in Portugal.

WEDOIT enters Portugal market

WEDOIT is the latest multinational to enter the Portuguese market and has set up a technology hub with national talent with specialised certificated qualifications. Its presence in Portugal will serve to launch an expansion plan in Europe. The technology hub will provide IT solutions thanks to a large and highly-qualified team of professionals in specific IT infrastructure building and implementing situations. The company provides end-to-end IT projects and pay-on-demand models.

Hotels for sale

Idealista has undertaken a study about the evolution of the number of hotels for sale in Portugal. According to the study, there are 166 hotels for sale in Portugal with the offer increasing by 1% on 2020. In percentage terms, the number of hotels for sale in the Lisbon region has increased by 75%, although Faro in the Algarve is the district with the most hotels up for sale (27). On the other hand supply has fallen in the Central Region, the rest of the Algarve and Madeira region.
On 15 November 2021 there were 166 hotels up for sale in the national market. Porto has 23 up for sale, Lisbon (21), Setúbal (11),Viseu (11), Leiria (10) and Madeira (9).

CNN Portugal is launched

Politicians, company directors, artists and journalists were among the 400 guests who attended the opening ceremony for the launch of CNN Portugal on Monday. The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, said he had high expectations for the success of CNN Portugal. The event was also attended by the new Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas, who announced that he would open the largest vaccination centre in the country at Parque das Nações. The Prime Minister António Costa congratulated the new partnership between CNN and TVI which he said can result in a better quality news service at a time when “quality news broadcasting was needed now more than ever”.
The British CNN business journalist Richard Quest was among the 25 professionals invited from CNN International. CNN Portugal will provide round-the-clock news and programme coverage in Portuguese, 25 hours per day, 7-days a week, 365 days a year.
