Portugal has been elected the fourth best country in the world in which to retire.

This is according to the ‘2022 Annual Global Retirement Index’ which lists the bet places worldwide for pensioners.
The index is based on 10 points indicators which range from health and climate to safety. The total number of points from all the indicators is used to calculate an average which defines each country’s position.
In Portugal’s case, the indicators in which it scored the best, included the climate, the health system, and the cost of living.
This year, Costa Rica, which had been in top place, was unseated by Panama. Mexico came third, and Colombia third. Portugal’s neighbour Spain, however, trailed down in 9th place.
