The Portuguese unicorn Farfetch, which has an office in Moscow, is “monitoring the conflict” before taking any decisions that could affect the business or its local employees in the Russian capital.

The luxury online retail fashion platform issued a statement in which its executive director, José Neves states “I hope that diplomacy avoids greater tensions, but more than being concerned about the business, we are concerned with people”.
The executive director of Farfetch in Portugal also said that the company is monitoring the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and is implementing the necessary contingency measures since it has an office in Moscow. Nevertheless, it is waiting to see the extent of sanctions and will act accordingly.
“It is a subject we are very aware of. We have a team in Russia and I hope that diplomacy avoids greater tensions and an escalation of the conflict.
“Naturally we don’t know what the future will bring in Europe, and in particular for Russia and the Ukraine, so we have to wait and see (in terms of the impact of sanctions) and act accordingly”, said the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Farfetch, Luís Teixeira.
