Finerge expands solar platforms

Finerge, a renewable energy producer based at Matosinhos, Portugal and which is Portugal’s second-largest renewable energy producer, has won three lots at an auction for a floating solar platforms in Portugal.

They correspond to platforms at Paradela (13MW), Salamonde (8MW) and at Vila-Tabuaço (17MW).
The auction for the floating solar platform took place on 4 April. Lot number 6 (Tabuaço) was fiercely contested with 24 rounds in which Finerge secured the winning bids.
In a statement the company said: “This is the first time that Finerge has secured a lot in a solar auction – the third one we have taken part in. This winning bid reflects our commitment in the area of development and innovation and is why we created an independent department in 2020 focusing on innovation and technology, namely in storage and floating platforms with photovoltaic modules that collect energy from the sun.” (turning it into clean electricity at a rate of 3.200 Gwh).
Founded in 1996, Finerge, which is headed by Pedro Norton, operates 69 wind farms and 17 solar plants located in more than 46 municipalities across Portugal and 3 provinces in Spain with 770 wind turbines and thousands of photovoltaic modules.
