Only one Portuguese multimillionaire has made this year’s Forbes list of billionaires.

Maria Fernanda Amorim of the cork giant Corticeira Amorim is the wealthiest woman in Portugal, however the CEO of Farfetch, José Neves is no longer on the lot of billionaires after being listed in 2021.
Maria Fernanda Amorim, the widow of entrepreneur Américo Amorim, and her family came in 601st place.
The 87-year-old entrepreneur and her three children climbed seven places since the last list was compiled in 2021 by Forbes, although her wealth has remained the same at US$4.7Bn.
In turn, the CEO of Farfetch, José Neves is not on the latest list after having been in 1,249th place in 2021, with a fortune worth US$2.5Bn.
Maria Fernanda Amorim (and her family) inherited her fortune from her husband in 2017 after he had been 60 years at the helm of Corticeira Amorim, as well as the investments Américo Amorim
held in the energy and banking sector; for example, 18% in Galp Energia. That part of the company is held by his eldest daughter, Paula Amorim.
The 2022 Forbes billionaires list has 2,678 personalities, compared to 2,775 in 2021. On this list, 735 billionaires are in the United States, while 607 billionaires are in China; the two countries in the world with the most billionaires.
