Portugal’s housing shortage in the spotlight at the Portugal Real Estate Exhibition

The challenges facing central and local government, city planners and developers in solving Portugal’s chronic affordable housing shortage will take centre stage at this year’s Portugal Real Estate Exhibition (SIL) which runs between Thursday, May 4 and Sunday, May 7.

Co-organised by the AIP Foundation, with Lisbon City Council, the most important event dedicated to the real estate sector in Portugal is back at a time which is particularly tough for the sector.
During this edition there will be a number of conferences whose main objective will be to debate the current situation in the market and will include ‘SIL Cidades’ (SIL Cities) on May 4 which will focus on the ‘Main Challenges in Housing’.
The conference will feature the opinions of various council mayors including Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Loures, Ricardo Leão. Mayor of Porto Rui Moreira, Mayor of Santarém Ricardo Gonçalves, Mayor of Seixal, Paulo Silva, and the Mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues.
Also on May 4 there will be a conference at 3.30pm organised by ERA under the title “This country is not for young people? – The challenges of housing for the new generations”, an initiative whose purpose is to give voice to a generation which is particularly affected by the housing crisis and who feel their future and freedom being mortgaged.
The first day of the property fair will end with a conference organised by Wire Portugal – Women in Real Estate – on the theme ‘ESG & Arte: the road towards real estate appreciation’.
On May 5, during the SIL Investment Pro Conference, powered by APPII’ a “State of the Nation” analysis of the Real Estate, Housing and Licensing, with invited speakers from various companies and sector players.

SIL Real Estate Awards

On May 4 the winners of this year’s SIL Real Estate Awards will be known at a ceremony which will take place in SIL Village (Pavilion 2) when trophies will be handed to companies, personalities, solutions, entities and projects which stood out over the past year for their innovation and quality.
