Cisco Portugal announces new Academy of Cybersecurity
The Portuguese subsidiary of the US IT giant Cisco will launch a Cisco Cybersecurity Academy on September 21 in Lisbon.
Common to many parts of the world, Portugal is suffering from a significant lack of talent in the cybersecurity area.
With this initiative, Cisco will support Portugal in facing this dearth of skills and contribute towards the creation of a solid pipeline of suitably trained and certified specialists in cybersecurity.
Cisco is working on the project with a diverse ecosystem of organisations, including top technical universities in Portugal and key partners in the area of cybersecurity. The programme will start in September with 18 undergraduates who will be recruited from universities.
Cisco clients will also take part, sharing their points of view and experience with the students. Finally, the local partners of the company will also contribute and co-invest in this first edition of the Academy.
Over the programme’s six month duration Cisco and its partners will train the students, preparing them for CCNA certificates (Cisco Certified Networking Associate), CyberOps Associate & Security Networking with Cisco Firepower), and also Ethical Hacker which is an independent certification and recognised by the industry.
Apart from various modules, those taking part will get several weeks of practical rotation to acquire real experience.
In addition to these technical sessions, Cybersecurity Academy will also offer transversal skills training and workshops with Cisco specialists, clients and other influential external speakers.
