Brisa in binding offer for Greek concession

The Portuguese motorway concession group Brisa which is led by António Pires de Lima, has made a binding offer for the Greek motorways concession company Attiki Odos.

The concession is for 25 years and will begin in 2024 in partnership with the Intrakat Group. “The competition is very competitive between the best infrastructure companies in the world”, said António Pires de Lima to the online news source Eco.
The International competition for the concession was launched by the Greek government and involves 70km of motorways which are vitally important for transport and logistics links in the Athens region”, he said.
The motorways include the Athens ring road and other roads serving the Attica region with a motorway system that links Athens to Patras, Thessaloniki and Ezvoni
In 2022 the Brisa consortium was selected for the final phase of the competition that includes the financing, operation, maintenance and exploration of the Attica motorway.
“Regardless of the outcome, that we are still awaiting, we are proud of our team and Greek partners Intrakat. We will compete with other opportunities in the future. By 2028 we are looking to have one-third of our activity overseas”, said Brisa CEO António Pires de Lima.
In 2022 Brisa, which is the largest motorway concession company in Portugal, saw profits increase by 17% to €240.8 million and invested €79.4 million.
