Miguel Farinha, the current Strategy and Transactions Leader of EY Portugal has been appointed as the new CEO of EY Portugal. He replaces João Alves at the tax and accounting consultancy.

He has been with the company since 1998 where he began working in assurance, moving on to Strategy and Transactions. Farinha was made a partner in 2008 and took the helm as a director five years later.
The new director in Portugal is also a representative in the Diversity, Equality and Inclusiveness team for Western Europe.
In a recent interview with ECO, the new country manager argued that tax stability was even more important than cutting business tax.
“Even if there isn’t a written pact on tax between the PS and PSD parties there is an awareness that you can’t just go changing the tax regime like the weather,” he said.
