Martifer in joint venture with EDP and Engie for Portuguese offshore wind auction
Civil engineering company Martifer has established a partnership with Ocean Winds, the company that joins EDP Renováveis and ENGIE for investments in the area of offshore wind energy.
The two companies will compete together in the first tender for offshore wind farms in Portugal, which will take place this year, with the involvement of Oliveira de Frades’s company being 10%.
This alliance is “aligned with the Strategic Plan in force, namely in the ambition of growth and creation of sustained and sustainable value in the energy area, in businesses that enhance synergies and cross selling with the other business areas of the group, and with partners of unequivocal credibility and competence”, the company says in a statement and in a note sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
“This partnership brings together Ocean Winds’ vast and recognised international experience in the development and operation of offshore wind farms, including the only floating offshore wind farm in operation in Portugal, WindFloat Atlantic, with Martifer Renewables’ profound knowledge of the Portuguese market,” states the company.
By jointly developing state-of-the-art floating offshore wind farms that will provide sustainable and clean energy solutions, the company intends to contribute significantly to Portugal’s renewable energy targets of 2GW by 2030, in line with the European Union’s National Energy and Climate Plans (PNEC).
