Lisbon, Faro and Porto districts sell eight out of 10 luxury homes in Portugal

Eight out of 10 luxury properties sold in Portugal are in Lisbon, Porto and Faro according to the online property portal Idealista.

According to Idealista it has over 12,000 homes priced at over €1 million, of which €1,700 cost over €3 million.

The districts of Lisbon, Faro and Porto concentrate 81% of all luxury homes for sale in Portugal, that is, those costing more than one million euros, advertised for sale on the Idealista website.

According to the real estate portal, practically all districts of mainland Portugal and the islands have at least one house listed on the Idealista portal that costs more than one million euros. However, the distribution is not even.

Data compiled on August 1 indicates that Lisbon is the district with the highest number of luxury homes above this value, representing 44.6% of the national total. Faro follows, with 24.9% of the total, followed by Porto (11.2%), Setúbal (5.2% of the total) and Madeira (4.3%).

Leiria is the sixth district with the most properties above one million euros, representing 1.5% of the total, followed by Évora with 1.4%. The ranking of the districts and islands with the most luxury houses is completed with Braga (1.1%) and Santarém (1.1%).
