The Algarve’s newest golf course, located in Ombria, the new sustainable luxury destination located in the heart of the municipality of Loulé, won the award for “Europe’s Best New Golf Course” at the 2024 edition of the World Golf Awards, one of the most prestigious distinctions in the world of golf.

This international recognition reflects the excellence and innovation of Ombria Algarve, whose world-class 18-hole golf course is harmoniously integrated into the natural landscape of the region. Designed by renowned Portuguese architect Jorge Santana da Silva, the course was designed with a deep respect for the environment, promoting sustainable practices that preserve local biodiversity and challenge golf lovers.

Ombria Algarve continues to assert itself as a destination of choice for golfers and for those looking for authentic and exclusive experiences. The development includes a wide range of premium residences, as well as the ‘Viceroy at Ombria Algarve’, a 5-star hotel that opened on October 1, 2024, the first of the North American brand Viceroy Hotels & Resorts in the South of Europe and has 141 rooms, suites and apartments, a spa, gym, several restaurants, bars, kids’ club, conference centre and various heated pools.

Ombria Algarve’s Director of Golf, Salvador Costa Macedo, said: “It is an honour for Ombria Algarve to receive this very significant award, which celebrates our dedication to quality, sustainability and the unique experience we offer to golfers around the world.”
