Brisa road tolls to go up by as much as 14%
Toll charges on 56% of motorways run by Brisa will go up by as much as 14.29% next year. Charges for the remaining 44% of class 1 tolls will remain at the same tariff was they were in 2024.
The company says that on some motorways the increases will be above average because they had remained unchanged in previous years.
There will also be a rounding up of toll charges by a multiple of five cents.
With the new charges, a journey on the A1 between Lisbon and Porto will cost €24.60, or 70 cents more, corresponding to an increase of 2.93%.
A trip on the A2 between Lisbon and the Algarve will increase by 60 cents or 2.64% costing €23.30.
However, not all stretches of motorway managed by Brisa will suffer increases with 44% of Class 1 charges remaining the same that they were in 2024.
Cases in point include the road between Lisbon and Cascais, the A1 between Vila Franca de Xira and the road between Espinho and Carvalhos, and the A2 stretch between Fogueteiro and Coina.
52 of the 93 toll rates applied to Class 1 vehicles will have their charges updated on January 1.
This will include the stretch between Alverca and Vila Franca de Xira where the increase will be five cents, up 11.11% while the A4 between Porto and Amarante will see an increase of 5.62% (Up 25 cents).
The cost of a journey on the A3 between Maia and Santo Tirso will increase by 4.55% or five cents.
Brisa also announced that next year it will invest €64 million on its network of roads from maintenance and road improvements, as well as increasing the number of electric vehicle charging points.
