BIGhub raises €10 million to create payment service
BIGhub, a Portuguese startup dedicated to integrating stores in European marketplaces, has raised €10 million to create a same-day payments service for shop retailers and advertisers on the marketplace and drive its growth.
“We are very excited to have received this investment that is perfectly aligned with our strategic focus on capitalising on the company’s growth, both internally, with the increase of the team, and externally, for the expansion of new markets”, says Rúben Lamy, founder and CEO of BIGhub, quoted in a statement.
Lamy said that the startup received a capital injection of €2 million from Blue Crow Capital, leaving another €1 million open at the same conditions in the investment round from another strategic investor.
This amount “will serve to activate the team’s growth and expand the brand to new markets”.
Today the company operates in the Portuguese, Spanish, German, Italian and French markets and has 41 employees. The expectation is to hire 25 more people, an official source told the business news source ECO, although without specifying a deadline.
In addition to these €2 million, there was investment worth €8 million, also from BlueCrow Capital, specifically “to create BIGcash, a service that allows same-day payment to shopkeepers and advertisers within marketplaces, instead of waiting the usual 45 days”, informs the company.
Founded in 2022, BIGHub positions itself as a sales accelerator, helping companies to highlight their products in the largest European marketplaces. 400 stores have already opened and earned more than €5 million, according to the statement.
