Sana to turn Quartel da Graça into 5-star hotel
More than six years after the signing of a concession contract for the former Graça Barracks building in Lisbon’s sought after Graça district, the Sana Group has finally begun work to transform the historic Lisbon building into a five-star hotel, despite the initially defined deadlines having already passed.
At the same time, the government has requested a specialised legal opinion to study the contract signed in 2019 with the Directorate-General of the Treasury and Finance, due to the breach of several clauses.
These include delays in the completion of the works, maintenance obligations, and the annual payment of approximately €1.79 million starting in 2024, accumulating more than €3.5 million in arrears.
The São Vicente Parish Council is also considering legal action to stop the concession and give the property a social use.
