UK’s Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) to acquire new Braga hotel

The Braga-based Hotel Janes company held by ABB (Alexandre Barbosa Borges) has just reached an agreement with the British Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) that includes the transfer of the Esperança Hotel to the Vignette Collection, the luxury brand of one of the world’s largest hotel groups.

Located on the historic Rua de Janes, a stone’s throw from Braga Cathedral, a 58-room hotel is being built as a result of the rennovation and expansion of a 19th-century building – which housed the Casa Esperança decoration shop, closed since 1999 – and incorporates a section of the city’s medieval wall.

With its opening scheduled for September, the Esperança Hotel, Vignette Collection, “will expand the global portfolio of the Vignette Collection brand in Portugal—between hotels already open and those under development—to six units,” IHG said in a statement.
