Portuguese petroleum giant Galp has insisted that it has enough fuel reserves in Portugal to offset the current ongoing oil supply crisis in the Middle East.

“We have sufficient reserves and we have a refinery in operation that allows us to reassure the Portuguese people, even regarding those more popular products, such as jet fuel, where we have 80% guaranteed by national production,” stated Co-CEO João Diogo Marques da Silva this week.

The CEO was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Galp’s electric charging hub at the A1 motorway service area in Pombal, Leiria district.

According to the co-CEO of Galp, “things are quite secure and safe,” guaranteeing that reserves “will not run out in weeks.”

“We have a refinery that works continuously, so what needs to be ensured is production, and we even export products that are not needed in the Portuguese market. We are very well secured, both in terms of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, which are the main products. The Portuguese can rest assured,” he concluded.
