Tekever to provide drones for Portuguese armed forces
The Portuguese Army is expected to receive a share of over €1.1Bn from the European SAFE loan programme out of a total of €5.8 billion secured by Portugal from Brussels.
Two-wheeled armored vehicles and Tekever drones are among the equipment that the Armed Forces branch is expected to acquire with this investment.
Regarding drones, the Portuguese army, airforce and navy will acquire the equipment according to Lieutenant-General and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Army, João Pedro Rato Boga de Oliveira Ribeiro in an interview with ECO on the sidelines of AED Days, which brought together the defense, space and aeronautics sector for four days in Estoril last month.
“We will also participate in projects with the Navy and the Air Force in the acquisition of unmanned aerial systems, with the participation of Portuguese companies, all within the scope of the SAFE programme,” he says.
“Tekever is the company that is part of this consortium. But, once again, we are talking about matters that are not yet completely finalised, but it is the company that is developing these unmanned aerial systems for acquisition through this SAFE program,” he adds. A project which will be lead by the Portuguese on the drones side according to the Minister of Defence, Nuno Melo.
